Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Citizens of Dalaran,

We would like to wish you happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year on behalf of all the staff members of Dalaran-WoW.

It has been a year with many changes and improvements, but we expect the 2017 will come stronger and with more exciting news.

We want to give our most sincere gratitude to all our community for your amazing support and constant collaboration with us in so many ways. From the new player recommending the server to his/her friends, to the old player that logs once in a while to check any news or important changes; from the fresh level 80 that starts facing Kel’thuzad to the Champions of the Trial of the Gran Crusader that were facing the Lich King during the Beta session this past weekend.

We wish you jolly days and enjoy the Winter Veil event!

Icecrown Citadel Beta: Friday 16th to Monday 19th

world-of-warcraft-review

Hello citizens of Dalaran,

We are glad to announce that the Beta sessions of the Icecrown Citadel patch are already structured and the first Beta will start on Friday 16th and will last until Monday 19th. This will be a meticulous process and we will ask a thorough collaboration from the group of testers.

The testers will receive a wide list of things to check out that will require a full raid or group environment. After each Beta session, the testers should make a compendium report with the results about each of the points. The testers can also check out other things that are not in the list and add it later as a result.

The first Beta session is scheduled to only test the different raid difficulties of Icecrown Citadel (10 and 25 Normal and Heroic). The testing requirements could be summarized into; Tactics with their abilities/spells, visual and cosmetic details and feedback regarding the lack of buffs.

We would prefer if players willing to participate in the Beta sessions are raid groups already attuned to enter Icecrown Citadel and geared enough to have a proper raid performance. There will be no attunement required to enter the raids on the PTR.

We have tried to polish the content as much as possible with a lot of effort, love and motivation and in fact we think that the results are great (from roleplays, visual effects, events to encounter mechanics). We do expect some issues to appear when it is tested on a real player based raid environment though, but nothing major that it can not be quickly fixed before the official release.

A representative from the guild groups that are willing to participate in the First Beta Sessions regarding Icecrown Citadel raid has to send the registration to: dalaran.beta@gmail.com with the subject title: Name of your guild – Icecrown Citadel Beta.

The content of the email should be:

1) A list of the participants from your guild, keep in mind that the volume of players can be as long as you desire and you can divide them in the number of raid groups you consider best, you can bring alters to help with the testing purposes.

2) The raid modes you are going to test. Can be multiple options too.

More details and instructions will be sent through email to the representative of the guilds.

Once the Icecrown Citadel raid is fully tested, we will open a new Beta session to test out additional content that will also be released during this patch, that will include:

  • The Forge of Souls, the Pit of Saron and the Halls of Reflection in normal and heroic modes, with their related quests.
  • The Return of Quel’Delar and Shadowmourne quest chains.
  • Toravon the Ice Watcher inside the Vault of Archavon.

We will announce if we will need another Beta session for this content after receiving the reports from the first one. If there is no need for another session, then we will announce the next Beta for the additional content and its process to participate in it, since we are aware many players are willing to participate on this Betas, but maybe they can’t provide a raiding environment, we will offer the second Beta to the rest of the players that are willing to participate with party groups to test the dungeons or exceptional individuals to test the Quest lines.

Thank you very much.

Thumbs up to the Bug Tracker

fix_header

Hello community,

We have been thinking about how to improve the game experience and how to enable the community to show their wishes regarding the deployment of fixes. As we are below 700 issues known and reported thanks to the hard work from our developers Robinsch and Rushor, we have pushed a bit more effort polishing our content and solve all the issues that our players may encounter in-game. We are labeling them by priority but we would like if our citizens can participate in this process as well.

We would like that you, as our player and reporter of issues, take part in this process. This is why we would like our players to start using the ‘Thumbs up’ emote from our Bug Tracker as a vote so the issues can be sorted by relevance. This way, we can have a ranked list of your preferences to get things solved and therefore include them in the monthly work schedule. Of course, after dealing with critical and important issues.

How do you do this?

For starters, you will need an account on Github and head over to our bug-tracker, which you can find on the top-right of our forums. Then you can react to the issue you want to get bumped up the priority with a ‘Thumb-up’ emote.

If the users do it reasonably, it will generate a ranked list of issues to take care of. Once they are solved, you can once again emote other issues and this way update the ranked list.

You can tell your friends to do the same, the more votes an individual issue gets, the higher rank it will have, and the sooner it will be worked on. Also, you can ask the rest of our community to get active on the bug-tracker, explaining to them how to report issues and react with the emote. With an active community and reports, it will be easier for this initiative to have a positive outcome.

Now would be the perfect time to report issues that you are aware of, don’t forget to include as many details as you can or feedback on already opened reports. (Do not post messages like; bump report, useless information or “still bugged”, please.) Remember that if there is no report, we will not be aware of the problem. We need the community’s collaboration to improve.

To sum up, we are sure that the interaction with the players will have a great impact on the development process in both ways. For the developers, who will know what is most needed/desired, and to the players, because you will see the issues ranked and solved.

Let’s improve our home to achieve the best WotLK experience!

Thank you for your understanding and support.

P.S.: More important news regarding changelogs and the Icecrown Citadel patch Betas are going to be announced this week.

The Winds of Winter – Betas and Development

world-of-warcraft-review

Hello citizens of Dalaran,

“Can you feel it? Closing in all around you.. The light’s justice has been awakened, the sins of the past have finally caught up to you.”

With that sentence, we want to bring you all exciting news. To start off, we have been working hard to be able to schedule the multiple Beta sessions for the Pit of Saron, Forge of Souls, Halls of Reflection 5 man dungeons, and the raid on Icecrown Citadel itself. Along with these, the two important quests chains; Shadowmourne and Quel’Delar, will be released and will also be able to be tested during the beta.

The procedure you will have to follow in order to participate in this closed Beta session shall be announced by us on our forums and social media. Because the process will be more complex this time around, we will make several posts about it in order to explain in detail how and who can participate in them. We will require full raid groups, party groups, and exceptional individuals for the different testing sessions. We are notifying this beforehand for the players that have gotten a bit inactive while they have been waiting for the Lich King, so they too get aware and can participate in the Beta testing.

Secondly, we want to announce the continuation of the Changelogs. Due to several changes made in the Staff group during the summer vacations, we are once again opening our doors to hire developers, and incorporate them to replace the absences that happened since August. We want to push the work that needs to be done even harder. In addition, we want to remind all the excellent players that have been making amazing bug reports on the bugtracker, that they can collaborate with Dalaran-WoW as official testers.

Furthermore, the Game Master recruitment is still open. Thanks to Morens, Impreza and Lantri, that have settled nicely in the team, the incorporation of new Game Masters that want to help and resolve in-game issues will be easier. If you want to become a part of our family as a Game Master, or join the process of testing to push the changelog faster, you can send your application here: dalaran.recruitment@gmail.com

Stay tuned, as Winter is coming and brings adventures to face, tons of illusions, and hard work. We are really motivated and excited about the results of what we have been working on. We will stay true to our essence and bring you the most detailed and perfected experience, true to how it back was in the glorious days of Wrath of the Lich King. We won’t stop until we achieve that and you can all enjoy it.

Account Security

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

We have detected an unusual activity based on advertising other websites coming from accounts of random players

This seems related to a recent user information data-mining on external projects, wich means that those users who use the same password for several websites should change it for a new one as soon as possible.

We strongly encourage all our players to not share their account information with anyone and change the password through our account panel.

We have locked the affected accounts, if yours is one of them write an e-mail to:dalaran.community@gmail.com

As a side note:

In order to improve your account’s security, we strongly encourage you to change your password if you use the same one in multiple places.

We have also posted this information on our social media: Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. Share, like and retweet so your friends will also be aware of it!

Thank you very much.

Recruiting Testers.

support_header (1)

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

We are excited to announce that we are currently recruiting volunteers in order to help us with the testing tasks.

We are looking for dedicated players with vast experience and knowledge of every aspect of the game, who will have access to our PTR and will help us test the new fixes before they get applied to the live realm. The testers will need to pay attention for small details, and write accurate reports in case it is required.

If you are interested write us an e-mail to: dalaran.recruitment@gmail.com with the following format:

Subject: Testers recruitment – Name of your Algalon’s main character.

Content: Explain us your knowledge and experience with the game, as well as your preference (if any) in case you would like to just focus in a single aspect of the game such as quests or spells.

Thank you very much.

A Gift of Wisdom

dalaran-citadelle-pourpre.jpg

Greetings citizens of Dalaran.

We wanted to bring back a long-lost feature, one that we believe is necessary for our players and will spice up the daily lives on Dalaran-WoW.

As you are aware, our team was quite small these past few years and several features and improvements had to be delayed or put on hold to focus on more pressing matters. With the great help of our new additions to the Development and Game Master teams, we can once again resume that work.

The feature we are talking about is, of course, the celebrated Changelog. Each new addition is special, as we have put much care and hard work into them and each one has a thematic relevance to it. We have also kept the old Changelog entries in the Archived section, as we believe they were worth preserving. We would also love to document and publish in a future all the work done until now as archived changelogs.

Onwards to the people doing the development work: Robinsch is our main class developer, Rushor is working on general development and Jonanone is polishing quest areas. We would also like to inform you that a few of the primary staff members that started with us as Game Masters are also collaborating with the developers and are helping with fixes and testing, most noticeably Khazgorath and Golganeth. There is also an extra developer in the process to start collaborating to the class and PvP fixes.

In order to streamline the process, the Bug-tracker has been greatly improved with the addition of new tags, templates etc. and all Game Masters will be more active there as well. We continue counting on your help with feedback and well-organized reports, as they both aid us greatly in identifying and fixing outstanding issues. It is your reports that bring most of the problems to our attention and without this constant effort from your side, Dalaran would not be the same. Is this team effort that unites us in our quest for the perfect WotLK home.

On a side note, we have already set up a permanent PTR realm to test all the changes before they are deployed to the live realm, we have been thinking of inviting a few players to it for intensive testing sessions (dungeons, full quest zones, etc..). We will make a selection process for the Tester position, more information will be in a future announcement.

We would also like to take advantage of this announcement to thank the community for the efforts made to adapt to the social rules and for reporting those who were ignoring server rules of behaviour. Thanks to you, the overall quality and mood of our global chat has vastly improved and we are certain that all newcomers will be happy to join the community jokes and conversations. It is our belief that good community interactions are an important basis for Dalaran, and it is something every citizen can help with to make our home even better. Keep it up!

Cheers!
