Ulduar PvE Tournament: Registration

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

As of today you can apply your guild to The Legends of Dalaran tournament by following these steps:

1) Consult with your guildmates before applying, motivate them, organize the roster and decide the streamer.
2) Decide in which mode you want to participate – 10 man and/or 25 man.
3) Send an e-mail to: dalaran.community@gmail.com with this format:

Subject: The Legends of Dalaran – Speed/Achievement challenge.

(Your character name), officer/guild master (raid leader if PUG) of the guild: (Guild name or PUG name).

We sign in 10/25 man mode, accepting the rules of participation.

Our streamer will be: (Name of the streamer/streamers), this is his/her stream link: (stream link).

The raid leader will be: (Name of the raid leader/possible substitute).

We will raid at: (raiding date and time).

4) Wait to the date of the challenge.
5) Good Luck!

  • Can we participate without streamer or video recorder?

– That is unfortunately impossible, we want the entire raid to be streamed, recorded and sent to us.

  • Can a group participate if not all participants hail from the same guild?

– Yes it can, there can be Picked up Groups. But their members will not be able to participate with their own guild as well for the entire duration of the Tier 8 – Ulduar Tournament (Speed run/achievement run).

– You have to decide the name of your group and specify it in the application in the Guild name slot as Pug Group. Example: PUG group: The archmages with arthritis.

  • Can my guild/group participate in 10 and 25 man?

– Yes, but you can only participate in each mode once.

  • Can I participate with different PuG groups or guilds on several stages or challenges from the same tier?

– Not with the same character, if you choose one group or guild, you will be able to only participate with them during the whole Tournament correspondant to the current tier. Howerver, you can participate with one character with your guild, and use an alter to join a pug group, for example. This way you will be allowed to receive the rewards with both of them even if they belong to the same account. There is no limit on how many groups you may join but remember, you must use different characters.

  • What if we are missing people from our roster when the run starts?

– As Guild: You can bring ONLY guildmates as a replacement to your tournament roster.

– As PuG group: You can pick up any new players that are not participating already.

We’d advise that you include backup players in the roster just in case.

  • Can my group or guild participate in the Tournament after the Speed Challenge applications are closed?

– Yes, but you will only be able to participate in the Achievement challenge.

Thank you very much.

PvE Tournament: The Legends of Dalaran – Ulduar.

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

In the taverns all across Azeroth a song can be heard, one song played by the bards, yet no one remembers the first one to sing it. It is heard around all over the place, but everyone knows the truth, it is an echo of our citizens, inside our memory, it will be spread in times of joy and fear. It is a Legend but there is nothing that proves it, and Legends may be forgotten or changed so the song will change too. We need to do something to keep the Legend alive, to remember each name and each feat, and this is how it is born: The Legends of Dalaran.

All of us will remember some names, some families, famous for their strength, their passion or their victories, the truth will be constant for a while, but with time will only last as a rumor. The brotherhoods change and their leadership too; everyone is a storyteller with some dwarfish beer in their hand, but in Dalaran, there will be a special book. A magic book like our kingdom, where all those who made the bards sing, who destroyed all the enemies and were known for their bravery and power, will forever remain as Legends and be remembered with eternal glory.

Our enemies are well known, every one of us knows how to deal with their threat, how to silence them week after week, but now everyone has the opportunity to show the rest why they are Legends and the rest only mere soldiers. To become a Legend you will need to fight against your enemies but also compete with your partners, the rest of the citizens of Dalaran.

When the battle is big, the reward has to even be bigger. So your name will be remembered through generations in our world, Azerothian winds will whisper to the rest when you are close to them who are you, and what you did. The fame will surround you, not only by your titles, but also by your feats.

If you want to become a Legend, to never be forgotten and always be known by everyone in Dalaran, where the children invent tales of your feats, where the ladies blush in your presence and the knights bow before you, this is your call.

The Priests will bless your fate, the Mages will conjure your dreams, the Warlocks will slay your nightmares, the Paladins will grant you their light, the Rogues will murder your enemies, the Shamans will call the elements to your presence, the Warriors will respect your bravery, the Druids will whisper your history to the elders, the Death-Knights will plague your opponents and the Hunters will tame the wild for you. You will be known as the best of your era, and maybe of the rest of generations that you live with us.

The books of our magical Kingdom of Dalaran are waiting to be written by you, our Legend.

We are delighted to announce our plans to host for second time an unique event that has never been seen in the history of Private Servers – A progressive PvE Tournament: The Legends of Dalaran – Ulduar.

From the beginning we have been searching for Legends who can achieve the impossible, and we tried to bring the attention of all the players we could, even before Dalaran-Wow was released. Now that we are known as dedicated, persistent and devoted people to our server and to our citizens, we can proudly host one of the most epic tournaments right before each tier/season ends.

On Dalaran, not only the Realm Firsts that players have achieved will last, because there will also be Legends around, people known as the best. Eternal glory in our Kingdom awaits for you, and believe us when we say that the race will not be just based on luck. Your dedication, teamwork and partnership, must be better than the rest if you want to have any chance.

We are currently searching for the Legends of Ulduar, but we will be searching for more in the future. Each of the eras will await for their heroes, and after that, they will await for their Legends.

The idea was originally born of a suggestion from our Staff Member: Averdoom, and of a from the player Tygra (http://www.dalaran-wow.com/forums/community/pve/topic/2262/guild-raid-race suggestion) on the forums, about a possible guild race. After a long period of thinking about possible structures, performances and so on (always keeping our ideals and thoughts), Legends of Dalaran became true and is considered one of the great highlights from our server.

This tournament will be hosted on our realm Algalon, it will not be game-breaking, and each and every one of the participants will have their reward.

What do we plan to achieve with this?

– To increase the competitive spirit among the players.
– To bring the “hero feeling” to our players and to spread the competition to possible new players to come.
– To be the one and unique private server with such tournaments.
– To gain international and competitive PvE reference.
– To become the heart and exclusive home of the PvE players.
– To bring the most deep PvE experience in the private servers.
– To have a centralized, unified and active community.
– To bring a challenge to experienced players.
– To advertise the server and to spread our quality around, in order to increase our popularity and grow as a unit.
– To give fame and reputation to our players and guilds towards the World of Warcraft community.

The PvE tournament will consist of two different races inside Ulduar and they will be present separately on both 10 and 25 modes.

1) Between 1st and 7th of May: First challenge – Speed Race.

Once the Speed Race is over, the Achievement race will take place.

2) Between 8th and 14th of May: On the second challenge, the guilds will have to accomplish a list of achievements (that we will provide) in Ulduar. Each of the achievements will have a specific point value.

The guild having more points between both of the challenges, will be proclaimed the winner. Will anyone be able to beat Obsidius guild, our Legends of Dalaran – Tier 7 winner ?

How can you participate?

– The Guild Master or one of the Officers must register their guild to the tournament. The registration for the Speed Run Tournament will be opened tomorrow friday, the April 24rd.

**Note: Only those guilds who can have at least one player streaming via Twitch or recording everything will be eligible to participate on the tournament.

We will explain through the forums everything, the table with the speed and achievement points value, rewards, rules, rewards, guidelines and so on.

If you want to become a Legend of Dalaran, this Tournament is for you.

Our Trailers

If you didn’t see them take a look to our amazing trailers:

All the gameplay footage was recorded in our server, with our scripts. Both trailers were made with all of our illusion.

Our server trailer was made before Dalaran WoW’s release, with a concept presentation (https://dalaranwow.wordpress.com/presentation/) explaining our project, it was a really successful start and we managed to get a nice community through the blog, Facebook and Youtube even before the launch.

The Algalon trailer, was made with the collaboration of some loyal players who started playing on Kirin Tor, our first realm.

Thankfully, the start of Kirin Tor was great, the community thought that we were doing a nice job and that our content was of a good quality. Because of that, the release of Algalon realm was even more successful and we did reach more than 1.000 players online that day, a feat that could not be possible without the interest which was born after those two trailers and our constant and devoted work.

Ulduar Open Test for external players

Hello there Community,

I would like to first express my most sincere gratitude for all your positive feedback and nice comments about how much you are enjoying Ulduar. That was our main goal, create the best possible Ulduar and bring back all those epic sensations that, unfortunately, haven not been available to us since the retail days. I am tremendously proud and happy for all your feedback.

I would also like to tell you that I am preparing a new patch with various corrections for minor glitches that some players have tell us about.

We know Ulduar is one of the most liked raids and we are really happy with the quality of our High End, so, after seeing it is causing such a good impression between groups of very experienced players, we have decided to open our doors to other communities for them to temporary try and enjoy our scripts in a rapid way.

We are preparing various Open Tests to our PTR for letting guilds of other servers, that really miss this awesome raid, test the quality of the scripts of Dalaran-WoW and see with their own eyes that it is not mere cheap talk.

We are sure that, thanks to this, a lot of guilds that are currently doubting about migrating to our server will have a way to make sure of our quality and how similar we are to retail.

If they decide to stay and start with us, we all benefit – they will enjoy it and we will have more competition. On the other hand, if they do not decide to stay, at least they will have been able to experience raids as they are supposed to be in a good private server, and see the differences (big and small) with their current raiding place.

We will keep you up to date and we will open applications for guilds external to Dalaran-WoW to subscribe and like this, discover the true passion for WoTLK, and set their hearthstone with us.

As an early update, tier 7 and tier 8 will be available for testing in 10 and 25 player mode.

Obviously, the private betas that we will make for the new content will be STRICTLY restricted to lawyal players and participants of our PvE Tournaments.

For now, the applications will be opened for well stablished guilds (10 or 25 players, it does not matter) and the way to apply will be quite easy: just send us an e-mail to: dalaran.community@gmail.com with the following information:

Subject: Guild name – Server.
-Name of the Guild Master.
-Explain us why you want to test our raids.
-Specify your raiding time.

We will provide you more details once we get your application.

Thank you very much.

Elune be with you.

Ulduar Video Contest

Hello there

We are going to propose a Ulduar video conquest. Let’s show to the rest of the WotLK community what we have inside our Ulduar doors!

We are really proud of the quality of our end-game content, we were the first private server with Naxxramas and Obsidian Sanctum fully scripted, but Ulduar is way more impressive, hard and epic. It is not fair for us to keep this feeling just for ourselves, we need to show it off, so this way more players can see the close our Ulduar is to retail.

We think that you, the players who are experiencing this awesome raid, should show the rest what it feels like. Show them how our bosses and their mechanics work, that properly scripted bosses are not that easy, that your achievements are well deserved because you had to struggle with a real battle and a proper fight.

We will be handing Donation Points as rewards to the editor of the best videos of each category:

  • 100 DP to the 1st

  • 50 DP to the 2nd

  • 25 DP to the 3rd

Even if your video does not end in the top 3 but you still want us to publish it in our social networks, we will do it without any trouble.

a) Category 1: Epic Videos

Description: The video should have epic music, and should show impressive bosses abilities. Can have trailer or movie structure, but should make the watchers feel the epicness.

– Must include an introduction that explains that the footage is from Dalaran WoW server in Algalon realm.
– May be with your guild mates or other players, but the chats can not be seen for privacy issues, combat log may be shown.
– Voice chat is not allowed.

b) Category 2: Specific content footage.

Description: Dedicated video of an area or aspect of the raid, can be for example a video that shows all the roleplay events, or all the bosses from one area like the Keepers, or can be just one boss or one event.

– Explicative letters must appear before each content, for example: Ignis the Furnace Master 25 man or Brann Radio before engage Flame Leviathan, the sigils quest line, the reply code alpha’s quest event in Dalaran, Ulduar Brann intro or even just Sif channeling over Thorim, there are much possibilities.
– Voice chat is not allowed, but ingame sound must be there.

c) Category 3: Guides

Description: Guides about how to face each Ulduar encounter, can be done boss by boss or full areas. Similar to Tankspot guides.

– Of course, this category will be published only if the boss is already killed on the mode you did the video, we will keep the privacy of the tactics used for some bosses while the Realm First are still in competition.
– Explanations of each of the boss abilities, and if there is a prenerf status there.
– The format of the guide can be either explained by voice or with text through the video.
– Explanation of how to face it from one point of view (tank, heal or dps role), can merge all of them and explain all the roles, but least one role should be fully explained for each boss.
– If you want to face the trash without the bosses, you have to explain it in detail too, for example: Storm Tempered Keeper.

Send your videos to our community mail: dalaran.community@gmail.com

Subject: Ulduar video conquest
Character: Your character
Video: Be sure it is public or that we have access to it.
Description: Explain the category in which you would like to participate, all extra information will be welcome.

If we have difficulties selecting the best videos because we receive too many of great quality, we will set a poll so all of you can participate in the election.

Thank you very much and good luck!

How the progression works in Algalon realm.

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

Algalon´s realm content will be a bit different from Kirin Tor’s, so you can find some things that work on Kirin Tor and that do not work on Algalon, and vice versa. But soon they will be equal, thus improving the content and quality of both realms.

If you have any doubts and it has not been explained here, it does imply that it works exactly as in Kirin Tor or as it is supposed to do on the 3.3.5a patch.

There will be 2 Eras which will define Algalon Realm:

  • 1) First Era: The raids and arena seasons will be gradually released and will last as “the current raid/season” for around X months (depending on the raid).

For example, as soon as Algalon is launched, you will be able to enjoy Naxxramas and arena season 5 for about 3 months (will post exact dates and times with the official release), once the time to open the next tier raid and season arrives, Ulduar and arena season 6 will be opened.

There will be an exception with the way to release some of the first 25 player raids. Eg: Once the realm is opened, there will be available only 10-player mode of Naxxramas. Once Kel’Thuzad is defeated on his 10 player mode for the first time, then we will open the 25 player mode. In this way, we avoid rushes to the Realm First of Naxxramas 25 and we grant some time to stabilize the player base so that everyone has the same chances to obtain it.

  • 2) Second and final era: Once all the content is released, there will be a constant and eternal progression. Thanks to the systems we have implemented, Algalon has been designed with certain restrictions and features that allow the players to progress through the content making each raid / arena season a real challenge for everyone. If you want to progress in the game, either through PvE or PvP, you have to earn it and make an effort.

  • Northrend 5 player Instances

Access restriction: There will be no restriction on accessing the Northrend instances, except: Trial of the Champion, The Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron and The Halls of Reflection. Only those players who meet the previous requirements (having progressed through the content prior to these instances), will be able to enter.

Emblems: Emblems of Triumph will be dropped only to those players who have already progressed through the content up to Trial of the Crusader.

Example: If your character has progressed up to Ulduar (and has not yet managed to get The Descent into Madness 25 players achievement), he will not receive any type of emblem after defeating bosses on 5 man heroic instances.

However, if your character has progressed up to Trial of the Crusader (which means, you have already got the achievements of Naxxramas/Ulduar) then you will be able to loot the emblems of triumph as reward for killing bosses in heroic mode of 5 man instances.

  • Raids

Access restriction: Each raid will require the previous tier raid’s achievement on the same difficulty the player is trying to enter. For example, if you try to enter in Ulduar 10 player mode, you will need to have The Fall of Naxxramas (10 players) . Hence, the same goes to 25 player mode, you will need The Fall of Naxxramas (25 players) if you wish to enter into Ulduar 25 players.

Emblems: Bosses will always drop that raid’s correspondent emblems for everyone. Example: Players getEmblems of Conquest upon killing any boss inside Ulduar, no matter what is the character’s progression.

  • Exceptional case: Vault of Archavon.

Every boss within the vault was released in a chronological order and synchronized with the WoTLK raids. Therefore, we have designed a system to analyze and contemplate the overall raid member’s progression. The bosses will be available or not depending on the progression of the players. Here’s an example:

Archavon will be always available, regardless of the players progression as it was released with Naxxramas, thus since the very beginning of the WoTLK. However, Emalon was released as the same time as Ulduar, which implies that he will be available if each and every member has completed the Naxxramas raid. What if there are several players who have not completed it yet? The other bosses are not available for the raid until these players leave the instance, there will be just Archavon. If just one player does not meet the requirements, the bosses will disappear and the instance will configure itself in real time.

Other quick example: every raid member has progressed already up to Trial of the Crusader (this means they have Naxxramas/Ulduar achievements), then Vault of Archavon will configure itself and there will be available Archavon, Emalon and Koralon.

All vendors have been set and will be adapted to each arena season so that will be impossible to get equipment that does not correspond to the current season. The PvP is subject to constant rotation; it will start in the season 5 and end at 8. When the 8th season ends, we will go back again through season 5.

  • Arenas, Battlegrounds, and Wintergrasp:

There will be gear restrictions depending on the current arena season. For example, with the release of Algalon the current season will be 5, and there will be no chance that players have items with higher item level than that which correspond to this season or the current High end raid (as I mentioned all PvP vendors in Azeroth/Outlands will be fully configured ). However, once the season have rotated, there will be people who own PvE or PvP high gear ( Eg. Wrathfull or even trinkets like Deathbringer’s will ), but the 5th season would be running again, thus everything will be restricted again with the appropriate level as maximum. Hence, these players cannot equip those items within Arenas, Battlegrounds and Wintegrasp and create an imbalance in regard to those who are not geared yet. With this, we have created a tight and really challenging PvP, where all that the players get, will be hard-earned and always with the same conditions for everyone.

-Donations: Of course, as we have stated many times, there would never be high end game gear in our shops. Algalon’s shop will be more restrictive than Kirin Tor one.

-Random Dungeon Finder: As already discussed, the random dungeon finder will not be active yet.

-Weekly quests: The weekly raid quest will not be available.

-The related professions, talents, mechanics… etc will have the same systems specified by the patch 3.3.5a .

We will not answer questions that have already been answered or explained in other posts, so please, if you have any questions, be sure you have read all the information.

Thank you very much.

Meet Khestar, a new developer in our ranks.

Hello Citizens of Dalaran,

As you probably already know, I have so far been the only developer of Dalaran-WoW since the project started. This path of solitude granted me concentration, made me focus all my senses on this work and pour my lifeblood into it.

I feel Dalaran-WoW as my child, made with all the love, patience and care that a newborn needs. However, it is growing, and it requires all my attention every single day. Until now I have managed to take care of it, with the Light of Elune guiding my path.

Ulduar however, with the spread of Yogg Saron’s influence, made me waste a lot more energy than anticipated (being near an Old God can have a lot of damaging effects) and my soul has weakened from this immense effort. I have listened to the Titan’s advice, and have called upon one of my best friends and the most experienced person that I know for this undertaking. He has listened to my plea with great care and understanding, and has started loving Dalaran-WoW as his own son.

Now, hand to hand, we will make it grow strong and powerful, perfect as every child to his father’s eyes, alluring to newcomers and coveted by others. We will make Dalaran the metropolis of WotLK where everyone will stay, it will be the undisputed and only home for any WotLK lover.

I would like to introduce to you to Khestar , an incredible software engineer with amazing experience, a person to work with if you want something done well and, best of all, my closest friend. We have shared our university years, developing a lot of projects with both passion and success. We have also been professional colleagues, but I have always thought that he deserved better and, since I consider him the most talented engineer I have ever met, he has more than earned my total admiration.

Welcome Khestar, Elune be with you.

You can read his presentation, right here:

Greetings fellow citizens of Dalaran,

My name is Khestar, I’m a professional software engineer and I’ll soon start working hard to make Dalaran an even better home for all of us, but first, a small introduction of myself.

As any dwarf, I’ve grown up surrounded by all kinds of engineering and have learned to love it. I started developing at a very young age, but I always knew I’ll study computer engineering in college to really master my abilities. I spend all my college years working on very interesting and challenging projects and I’ve been working as a professional ever since.

I met Lothloryen nearly 10 years ago thanks to our mutual passion for software engineering, and we soon became close friends, which has never changed. We started collaborating in various college projects and we really enjoyed it, so as soon as we had the chance, we started working professionally at an artificial intelligence lab, our working environment was fantastic.
It’s amazing how Loth has been able to build all this incredible world all by himself, but the time has come when all the weight can’t be concentrated on a single man. From now on, we’ll join forces to make Dalaran the best place to be. My only objective is perfection.

So I swear in front of the Council of Three Hammers I’ll use all the knowledge at my disposal to improve Dalaran and to take it to levels we would have never imagined.

Thanks to all of you, we’ll see each other soon enough.
